This assembly is the touch panel of a car door — the domed black housing a driver’s fingers find when pulling the door closed, with a bright plated trim ring around its base and a short harness ending in a two-way connector. It arrives as one wired unit: the housing, the trim ring, and the lead are mated before packing, so the line on the car side just plugs it in.
The housing is injection molded in black with a gloss Class-A face; the trim ring is molded separately and plated. This page covers the visible surface, the wiring, the ribs inside the dome, and what we need confirmed before quoting.

A gloss black interior part shows everything. Flow marks, blush at the gate, a faint sink over a rib — all of it reads under interior lighting, which in a car rakes across the panel from several angles at once. The dome is gated so the flow front reaches the crown evenly, the polish sequence on the cavity steel goes down to a diamond stage, and first articles are judged under a lamp at the angle a driver actually sees, not flat on a bench.
The plated ring does more than decorate. It hides the joint between the housing and the door card, covering both the gap and the clip feet that hold the assembly in. Its plating is specified for interior service, and the housing underneath is a plating-grade grade of ABS — a resin choice made for the ring, not the dome.

The harness is short on purpose. It runs from a lamp or switch inside the dome to a single connector a few centimetres away, where it meets the car’s door loom. The wire is routed through a channel moulded into the housing so it cannot sit between the assembly and the door card — a pinched wire behind trim is a warranty return that takes a dealer an hour to find.
The connector end is fixed with a clip moulded into the housing, so the lead has no slack to rattle and the mating pull is taken by the housing, not the solder joint. Harness length, connector type and pin-out come from the customer; we mold the channel and clip around them.

Behind the dome, ribs turn a shell into a structure. They carry the clip feet that snap the panel into the door, they brace the lamp pocket so the light does not shake, and they keep the dome from oil-canning when a hand presses it. The ribs stop short of the gloss face by a fraction of the wall — close enough to support it, far enough that they do not read as shadows through the surface. That standoff is one of the numbers we tune during sampling.
The assembly also carries its identification on the back: a label with the part number and traceability code sits in a recess sized to it, flat and clear of the ribs, so it scans without peeling at an edge.
