This long, oval ring is an interior chrome trim part — the bright frame that sits around a shifter bezel, a vent strip or a lamp opening. What looks like a simple polished band is a thin-wall plastic molding with a chrome stack on its visible face and an army of small clips and pins along its inner edge, each one locating the ring in the trim panel at a specific point.
The base part is injection molded in plating-grade ABS, then run through an electroplating line. This page covers the plating, the clip array, how thin walls are kept straight, and what we need before quoting.

Chrome on plastic only looks as good as the molding underneath. The plating line etches the ABS surface and builds a nickel-chrome stack on it, and that stack copies every flaw: flow marks, gate blush, a faint sink over a clip boss — all of them end up amplified on a mirror surface rather than hidden. So the visible face is molded to a stricter standard than a painted part would need: even flow, no blush, sink controlled where the clips attach.
The chrome stack also stiffens the part. A ring this long gains real rigidity once plated, which helps it hold its shape in the panel — but the plating thickness has to stay even, or the stiffening is uneven and the ring develops a twist. The racks that carry parts through the bath are laid out per part geometry; this ring has its own rack pattern from the sampling trials.

A bright surface shows every gap, and a long ring on a curved panel will gap somewhere if it is held at only a few points. So the inner edge carries a dense array of clips and locating pins — each clip is a small flexible hook that snaps over the panel feature, and each pin indexes into a hole. The array is not uniform: clips concentrate where the panel curves, because that is where the ring wants to lift. The positions came from fitting trials on the actual trim panel, not from a symmetrical pattern on a drawing.
The clips are also the service feature. They flex every time the ring is removed, so the hook tips are dimensioned for a limited number of cycles and the material behind them is left thick enough to survive them.

Everything about this shape argues for warp: long, thin, hollow, plated on one side. The countermeasures are process, not luck. The mold gates so shrinkage runs evenly along the length; the ring cools in the tool longer than the wall seems to need; and the plating rack holds it in a fixture that balances the deposit on both faces of the section. The honest expectation, even then, is a part that is straight on the fixture and relaxes slightly after plating — which is why the fitting check happens on the trim panel, and the clip positions are cut to the relaxed shape.
Scratch resistance is the other quiet requirement. A plated surface is harder than paint, but the part still ships in individual bags with the clips protected, because one scuff across the visible face is scrap at this stage of value.

Kunshan Maifeng Precision Industry Co., Ltd. molds and plates interior trim parts like this ring in house — tooling, molding and the plating line coordinated on one site, with fitting trials done on customer panels. Send us the trim section and the opening the ring surrounds, and we will come back with a clip-layout proposal and a quotation.
