Inside an electric nasal washer, one moulded part has to do the plumbing. The component shown here is that part: a cylindrical sleeve that mounts in the device, carrying several hollow stub arms pointing in different directions, each one a water passage with a barb at its end waiting to accept a tube. Water in, water out, all routed through one piece of moulded plastic.
Five views show it upright, tilted and laid down, so the full set of arms and their barbs are visible. Each arm is a moulding problem of its own, because hollow tubes pointing sideways and upward do not come out of a straight-pull mould on their own.

A hollow tube moulded along the draw direction is easy. One pointing sideways is a side-action problem: the core that forms its bore has to retract before the part can leave the mould, which means slides, angle pins and a tool that knows the order in which things let go. The arms on this part point in more than one direction, so the tool carries a coordinated set of actions, and the sequencing is what keeps the barbs from dragging or breaking on ejection.
The barbs themselves are the detail that makes the part work. They hold the tube against pressure pulses from the pump, and they are undercuts by definition, so both the tool action that forms them and the slight flexibility of the resin that lets the part strip off them have to be right. A barb that is too aggressive tears the tube on assembly; too timid and the tube blows off in use.

The cylindrical body is the mounting half of the part. Its bore slides over the device’s mating sleeve, its internal ribs and slots locate it, and its side flats stop it rotating. Every arm’s position is referenced to that body, because a barb a degree off its intended direction puts a bend into the tube that restricts flow or kinks it against the housing wall.
Water paths run from the arms through the body wall, and the internal channels are cored, not drilled, so their transitions are smooth. A sharp internal edge at a channel junction would be a turbulence and trap point in a device whose whole job is steady, predictable flow.

The part is specified in a resin that suits a device washed and handled wet: stable in humidity, no extractables that would concern a nasal application, and enough stiffness for the mounting features to survive assembly. Moulding discipline is the usual one for small medical components: dimensions reported per lot, and the arm bores and barb profiles checked against the flow specification with real tubes assembled.

Bore diameters and barb profiles on every arm, gauged with the actual tubes. Arm direction and position against the flow layout drawing. Slide witness lines, inspected for flash into the water paths. Fit into the housing with the real mating sleeve, and a flow check through the assembled paths where the customer specification calls for it.
