A chrome handle is the most honest part on a tumbler, because it hides nothing. Every flow line, every sink mark, every handling mark that a matte texture would swallow shows up in a mirror finish, doubled by the reflection. The handles shown here are moulded in plating-grade resin and finished to that mirror standard, in a closed triangular loop that bolts through to the mating cup.
The three photographs show the loop from three angles, including the back face where the mounting holes and the structural ribs live. The visible surfaces carry the plating; the back carries the engineering.

Not every resin takes plating. The material has to be a plating grade with the right surface chemistry for the metal layers to bond, and it has to mould without the internal stresses that later attack the plating. A stressed handle looks perfect out of the tool and then craze-cracks through the chrome within weeks of use, which is a field failure far more expensive than the extra process discipline would have been.
The moulding itself has to be near-flawless before plating, because the metal layer amplifies rather than hides. Flow marks that are invisible on a black matte part become visible streaks under chrome. This is why the cavity surfaces are polished past the usual appearance standard and why the process window is held tightly, with parameters fixed rather than adjusted by feel between runs.

The closed triangular loop is stiff by geometry: a closed section resists the bending that an open hook accumulates. The load path runs from the hand, around the loop, and into the two mounting points, so those points and the ribs behind them are sized for a full cup, swung, not just a cup lifted and set down. The mounting holes are cored with bosses behind them, and the bolt torque is taken in compression rather than by pulling on the cosmetic face.
Gate position is chosen for the visible faces. The gate witness on a plated part is permanent, so it is placed on the back face where assembly hides it, and the flow is balanced so both mounting bosses fill and pack without sink showing through the plating on the front.

The final check on plated parts is between parts, not just against a standard. Two handles bolted onto the same product must reflect identically; a slight difference in gloss or tone between them reads immediately. Plating bath control and moulded surface consistency are what make that match repeatable, and both are held as process parameters rather than left to the finishing line’s judgement.
Surface appearance under strong light, both against a master and part-to-part. Adhesion of the plating, cross-hatch tested on samples from each lot. Mounting hole and boss dimensions against the mating cup, with the actual bolts. Load test through the loop, well above a full cup’s weight.
Kunshan Maifeng Precision Industry Co., Ltd. reviews plated and appearance part designs before quoting, builds the injection molds in house, and molds single-color and dual-color parts on 36 machines from 90 to 700 tons. Send us the mating drawing and the finish specification, and we will come back with a feasibility comment and a tooling proposal.
