The PC button panel sits at the point of contact between a physiotherapy device and the person using it. Every treatment session starts with a press on this surface, so the panel has to stay clear enough to read, tough enough for daily handling, and dimensionally stable enough that the switches and indicators behind it keep their alignment over years of service.
Kunshan Maifeng Precision molds these panels in polycarbonate and supports the project from custom mold development through precision molding to volume production. For a medical or healthcare interface part, that involvement across the whole chain matters: decisions made at the mold design stage decide how the panel will look and fit after ten thousand molding cycles, not only after the first trial.

On an interface panel, the visible surface is also the functional surface. Clarity, surface smoothness and consistent geometry all have to be held at the same time, and each of them depends on a different part of the mold.
Polycarbonate (PC) is the material behind this balance. It provides high transparency and excellent clarity for display and indicator areas, good strength and impact resistance for a part that is pressed and wiped every day, and stable dimensional performance across the temperature changes that occur inside an operating housing.
The usual defects on a clear molded panel — flow marks, weld lines near button openings, uneven gloss, slight sink where ribs meet the face — rarely come from the material itself. They come from gate position, packing pressure and cooling balance. Reviewing these points against the 3D data before tooling is what keeps the approved sample and the mass-produced parts looking the same.
Medical and healthcare devices place specific demands on an interface panel. The surface is cleaned regularly, sometimes with alcohol-based agents. The panel may sit above electronics that generate heat. And because the equipment is used in clinics and home settings, the part must tolerate handling by different users without cracking or whitening around the button areas.
PC responds well to these conditions, but grade selection still matters. Impact-modified grades, medical or food-contact formulations, UV stabilization and flame-retardant requirements should all be confirmed against the end-use specification. For projects in regulated markets, customers normally provide the required material certifications as part of the project brief, and the molding process is planned around them.
A button panel is rarely a standalone part. It mates with a housing, covers membrane switches or silicone buttons, and often carries locating clips, light pipe openings or sealing features along its edge.
That is why the rear structure deserves as much attention as the front face. Snap-fit geometry, rib thickness, boss support and the clearance around moving buttons decide whether the panel clicks into place without stress marks, and whether each button returns with a consistent feel. These details are reviewed during DFM, so that corrections happen on the mold design rather than on the production floor.

Maifeng works as a manufacturing partner rather than a molding service only. A typical panel project moves through product structure review, custom mold design and manufacturing, T1 trial with a dimension report, appearance and fit approval, then stable volume production.
Because molds are built and maintained in-house, adjustments after the first trial — gate modification, venting improvement, polish rework on optical surfaces — are handled without sending tooling to a third party. For customers who need both the mold and the molded parts, this shortens the distance between a design change and a validated sample.

Before mold design begins, buyers normally confirm the following points so the project can move forward without rework:
These inputs allow the mold and production team to design around real manufacturing constraints instead of correcting assumptions after trial runs.
